Dreamer’s Dare

—Ry Rose

I used to dare to dream

Before snuffed out by silent screams

Into the pillow of life

That smothers with strife

Now to survive

To stay alive

For others’ sake

Until I awake

From purgatory

‘til on higher ground from observatory

After mountain climbed

To thinner air sublime

Perhaps then

I will dare again

And per chance

From that stance

Be heard and seen

If only

There is such glory

And fullness to be felt

I will not lament

Then looking back

Over long jagged track

I simply dreamt

That I was a man who dreamt
