The Red Flower

—Andy Vo

A white lily blossoming

Shines over night while darkness sings

A flower that shines out

Hidden in this green sea

I beg of you

That I may know it, too

Why do we fight?

And act that it’s right?

Everyone is all the same

Yet we are all to blame

When darkness sings, everyone moves

Everyone, but the flower

I beg of you

That I may know it, too

Why do we die?

Is truth just a lie?

One by one

Green sea turns to red

Ashes fly high in the sky

Orange sparks floating amidst

I beg of you

That you know it, too

You look down on me

Claiming that we are free

The sea is no longer

The lily bleeds red

As its petals fly into the sky

Where only the stars are
